Wheeler National Recreation Trail climbs out of Wheeler Flats near Copper Mountain to a junction with Miners Creek Trail at about 11,250 feet. Wheeler Trail continues southeast while Miners Creek Trail goes north to climb over Tenmile Range between Peak 5 and Peak 6 at about 12,400 feet. The two sections of trail are part of the greater Colorado Trail. This panorama was taken along Miners Creek Trail at the 11,800 feet level on the west side of the ridge. Views are of Crystal Peak, Pacific Peak, Climax Mine tailings ponds, Resolution Bowl at Copper, and Vail Pass. Most years there might be a lot of snow here by late October but this hike was done without need for skis or snowshoes. The trailhead is in the skier parking lot just south of the Copper Mountain stoplight on the east side of Highway 91.
